Dear Coaches and Parents,
I would like to first off thank every single one of you for joining us this season! We would be nothing without all the volunteers and your family’s participation.
This season has been a tremendous success! 382 players joined us this Spring, an almost 14% increase from the Fall. These players made up a total of 37 teams with over 180 recreational games played at our beautiful complex. This has been our biggest group of kids in the Spring EVER, with the largest growth in U4. This increase led to us needing 3 additional teams in U4, 1 in U8, and 1 in U10. Requiring even more volunteers stepping up to coach to make this season possible.
Additionally; we have been able to start the parking expansion project. We are very excited to be working with the city to add at 130+ parking spots this Summer with a new centrally located parking lot. You may have already noticed the back-fence line has changed. This space is to be available for use by our July 20th 3v3 tournament.
We have also started taking small steps towards offer development opportunities for both our players and coaches. The Kentucky FC hosted both a coaching and a player clinic earlier in the season. 3v3Live will be hosting a tournament with us this summer, and we have expanded our camp offerings with Challenger Sports to include one focused on developing goalkeepers. More details on these opportunities are available on our website and Facebook page.
How we managed to pull-off our biggest Spring season yet, I do not know. But I am extremely proud of this season, and of all the volunteers that make it possible. I especially appreciate the long hours the board members put in behind the scenes.
At the start of the season board membership decreased in size to a mere 5 compared to 9 in Spring 2018. Now in the past month, we have doubled in size to 10 members. Instead of us wondering how to keep up with the demand of a growing league and large complex, we are now going to be able to pursue even more improvements with a stronger volunteer force.
Our next meeting will be June 3rd. At this meeting, we will reflect on this Spring season, discuss the vision for WYSL, and identify our short-term goals for next Fall. A personal goal of mine is to add what we discuss to the website, as well as add Board Member bios. I want you all to know who we are, what we're working on, and how to contact us.
