How and when can I register for my child for soccer?

At what age can/should my child start playing?

We provide a recreational soccer to children ranging for as young as 2 to as old as 18 depending on the season and number of players registered. There is no "ideal" age to start playing soccer, so they can jump in any time at any age and experience level to learn the game.

What should I expect for my U4 player?

This age group only plays on Saturday mornings at the Kroger Soccer Complex. A season is made up of 8 weekends, so they will have about 5 practice weekends and 2-3 games (depending on how many U4 teams we have). Both practices and games are 45 minutes long, with play broken into 5 minute increments.

I've registered; when will I hear from the coach, get a practice schedule, and when does the season start?

After registration closes, it takes us about about a week to finalize rosters and confirm coaches. We then hold two sessions of coaches meetings to provide coaches with their rosters, and other information needed to kick off the season. The coaches will contact you within the first couple days of having received their rosters to let you know when and where practices will be located. Games will begin typically about 2 weeks after the coaches meeting. Game schedules will be posted on the website; however, you should ALWAYS confirm the latest schedule with your coaches.

How will I know about schedule changes, weather delays, etc?

Whenever you have questions regarding your player's schedules, please contact the coaches first. This is especially important for U10 and up, since they play away games as part of the Central Kentucky Recreational League (CKRL). We recommend following the CKRL Soccer Facebook page for updates regarding these age groups.
WYSL will only make decisions regarding games played at the Kroger Soccer Complex, and not other locations. We will post updates regarding the complex and schedules on our Facebook page and on the CKRL Soccer Facebook page.
